A flat photo catches one angle. We capture the lot. Our camera rigs photograph each guest from every direction in under a second, giving us the images needed to build a detailed digital 3D model.

Once processed, guests receive a full-colour model to view and share. Selected models can also become 3D printed figurines with recognisable clothing, colour and proportions. It works for weddings and birthdays, corporate events, conventions and exhibitions, or as a very personal gift. No awkward studio appointment, and no asking your guests to stand still for an age.

I attended The IPM Experiential Expo event a couple of weeks ago and courtesy of Figured You Design Studios I had the chance to experience a 360° camera body scan which was used to produce a miniature 3D printed version of me. It has a thicker waistline than I would like, but I suppose the camera never lies. A great idea of turning a moment in time into a keepsake you can literally hold in the palm of your hand, and also have a bit of fun with positioned up against everyday objects. Great idea. Just about everyone I have shown this to wants one of their own!

Very kind and easy to talk to staff, the scan is quick and has picked up some detail I thought would of been lost. The figure itself has blown me away with how much detail was printed in colour on such a small scale. For example the orange tip on the shotgun and the small blue foresight were printed perfectly in colour which is a detail I thought would be lost. The packaging is nice and fancy and has plenty of foam to ensure the figure is safe which helped as the package was left in the rain for a while. I would recommend if you’ve got a awesome cosplay that you want to preserve in mini form and haven’t spent all your con money at artist alley..

A 3D printed figurine is a small physical model created from the images captured by our camera rigs. It turns one pose into something you can pick up, display and keep. We reproduce recognisable colours, clothing details and proportions. Think 3D photo, not bobblehead.

The cameras do their work in under a second, but it’s reasonable to have a few questions first. Here are the answers people usually need before booking.

What are 3D printed figures and how do they work?
3D printed figures are small physical models made to look like real people. We capture you with our camera rig, build a detailed digital model from the images, then print and finish the figure in full colour.

What is a 3D selfie figurine and how is it different from a normal selfie?
A 3D selfie figurine is a selfie you can hold. A normal selfie shows one flat view, while a 3D figure captures you from every angle and becomes a model you can display or give as a gift.

How do full-colour 3D printed figurines reproduce skin tones and clothing colours?
Our cameras record details such as skin tone, hair, makeup and clothing. We use that colour information when preparing and printing the model, so the finished figurine reflects the original scan as closely as the process allows.

How lifelike can a 3D figure really be?
A 3D figure can reproduce clothing, textures, facial structure and overall shape in fine detail. The result is recognisably you, but it is still a miniature rather than a waxwork. Scan quality, print resolution and finishing all affect the final result.

Can you make 3D printed figures for couples, families or groups?
Yes. We can create 3D printed figures for couples, families and groups. We can capture everyone together for a natural group pose or scan people individually and combine them into one model.

Is a 3D selfie figurine suitable for weddings, birthdays and corporate events?
Yes. A 3D selfie figurine works well as a wedding keepsake, birthday or milestone gift, and as part of a corporate event, award, team activity or branded display.
